Yup. Definitely seen this on here before.

It seems a lot of effort went into customising a bland sub-£100 bass to make it really dumb and ugly looking, and less convenient to use. Any length saved at the headstock end has more than been compensated for by the added bulk at the butt end. Might have nominal value as Firewood.

It'd probably give off toxic fumes, so no good for that neither...

It's not the worst 'conversion' we've seen on ebay but I notice that avenue to comment has now disappeared (and maybe for the best)...!

Thinking about it, the possible rationale for something like this would seem right up 'his' street. As a continuation of 'his' acts of creative charity to the tragically fat-fingered guitar players of the world, simply relocating a bass' tuners to the end of the body will clearly provide similar endless convenience and benefit for the shorter-armed bass player.

 

Was that what Ned S was really thinking, all those years ago?

OTOH, his gonad-shaped tuners might be more appropriate at the other end of the instrument!
