thepurpleblob
That's about it really. I hate gig bags... they are all floppy and you get there with the bass an octave out of tune. However, they fit in the boot of my car unlike a flight case. Can anybody recommend any really good gig bags? I'm thinking ones that are reasonably solid. stingrayfan
If you're after a stiff one - try Tribal Planet!
xilddx
Never had a problem with the Warwick Rockbag premiums, lots of protection and support, but they will flop slightly. They're about £25. I like the look of those Tribals though.
spector6
I'd recommend warwick's rock bags. Very comfortable, plenty of pockets for leads etc and great quality.
EBS_freak
They are pricey but the best bags bar none are the harvest ones. They may cost as much as your bass but...

If the compartments matter to you, then don't don't go that route. But if all you're interested in is the bag/case then buy Tribal Planet and throw away the zip-on bits. 6stringbassist
Incase are good but the pockets are daft. I use a Protech which is similar to the Incase but has better pockets, and when I was last at the Bassdirect shop they had these in stock which are even better. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp.../IGIG_Bags.html All three are expensive, but when you consider the price of your bass, and how much it'd cost to repair if it got damaged then it kind of makes sense, to me anyway. sub6
+1 for harvest, got one nearly two years ago from Overwater for my then new Progress. Excellent, all brown leather with good reinforcement and lotsa padding, big pockets w buckle fastenings.
MoonBassAlpha
Godin ones are really nice, but the pale colour gets filthy easily.
OutToPlayJazz
I've always rated the Warwick Rockbags that come as standard with most of the W basses, but more recently I've been very impressed with the Ritter bags that come as standard with Status Streamlines. BassBod
Not a fan of the Warwick bags - good design but the padding is really flimsy and allows knocks through to the bass. I've also had the straps come off when the stitching pulls apart..but that was after a fair bit of use. What bugs me is the padding is made to look thick but if you feel it you realize its pretty useless in protecting your bass. Harvest are the best I've seen - the canvas ones are very, very good (never seen the full leather version). They are fairly big, and expensive (but cheaper from Overwater?). Also the Levys CM19 (?) canvas one is great. After 20 years of playing I decided it was worth buying the best I could find (within reason!) rather than replacing them every 3 years. It all depends on how much you use them?
Dubs
I'm not a big fan of the Warwick ones either - after 12 months use at college it was f***ed, and my Streamer Std was also in one when the skateboard incident of '03 happened...

Their guitar straps are beautifully made also... really top quality leather. I was speaking to the owner of the company and the guitar bags and straps are a side line to his main leather business. Check them out at http://www.harvest-guitar.com/ They are the only straps I have seen that would make me move from my Levy and Comfort Strapps. In fact... I'm buying a strap now!! (And I'm still waiting for my custom Levy strap to arrive from the States... I have a strap problem it would seem)
Lee-Man
I've had both the Incase Tour bag (got stolen!) and the Sadowsky one that's almost the same, I think they are both great. Expensive though. I also have a Sadowsky branded Moridian gig bag as well, it's nice and thick, but still light so i can carry an amp on the tube.

I ordered a full leather bass bag from Station Music 3 weeks ago. It arrived in the advised 5 days and is fabulous...In fact, I'd go as far as to say they are the best gigbag I've seen. Clearly for the price, you'd hope so but well worth the investment. It needs some breaking in and will no doubt age as all good leather products do but I can't see me needing to replace this for quite some time.
