LukeFRC Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 "well Mr Ball, I've been all over Talk bass and I think I know what will make people like this next bass..." "What is it?" "Tortoiseshell! They lap it up." "Pickguard? that's easy" "Trust me boss, they stick tort on anything over there" "Well we're the Ball family - we don't do things by half- how about we do tort inlays too!" "Oooh lets go for it" "really?" "yes, lets do the binding too"Ā "oh yeah"Ā 4 Quote
Guest Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 The vault has isnāt quite working for me - showing all the older sold out basses as well as the few still for sale. Quote
bloke_zero Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 I wonder how the binding will weather over the years? Quote

I guess no worse than a 1960s/70s Fender Jazz or Les Paul guitars. Ā Manufacturing techniques and materials are all light years ahead so they should be significantly better!!Ā Ā According to the thread on Talkbass these basses have already sold out!!Ā Edited March 23, 2022 by drTStingray Quote
Sibob Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) Decent enough body (as it's been for the last 40 years), but that neck is hideous! All the wrong spec!Ā š¤¢Ā (other than the 30", shortscale is fine) Ā Si Edited March 23, 2022 by Sibob Quote
drTStingray Posted March 23, 2022 Author Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) Indeed - not my cup of tea either but weāve all heard about the love for tort amongst some bass players - some have even done their toasters, allegedly š Edited March 23, 2022 by drTStingray Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Bleugh.Ā š¤® I don't like tort at the best of times,Ā but binding and inlays? What possessed them? Hopefully this won't become a fashion or I'll have to give up playing altogether in order to avoid ever coming into contact with one.Ā 1 Quote

bigsmokebass Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I watched the review from The Bass Channel and I can honestly say, if you like the sound of a MusicMan but want a short scale. Don't buy here. Ā It just lacks that signature tone everyone knows and for the price, I'd be utterly disappointed. Even for a Sterling. I think you'd find other brands and designs that would offer more for less money.Ā Quote
