ubit Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 I am genuinely shocked and saddened to hear that the charismatic drummer from the Foo Fighters has died at aged 50. That is no age these days. 2 Quote
AndyTravis Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Yeah - confused when I had a headline pop up on my phone from news app, and had a text of @walshytoo. Saw the foos about 5/6 times late 90’s and early 2000’s. what a drummer. i love this he did on the Pacific Ocean Blue/Bambu reissue… 1 Quote
Burns-bass Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Seemed a troubled chap who loved the rock and roll lifestyle. The band seemed to genuinely love and support him not cut him loose, which makes this sad. Quote
40hz Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Tragic news. Can't imagine how Grohl must be feeling, a second band member and friend, he was incredibly close to, dying. I saw them back in 2002 on the One by One tour. He was gigantic behind the kit. In sound and personality. Quote
Nothingman Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Genuinely shocked by this. Not even a FF fan but their impact in the world of music can not go unnoticed. And he played a big part in that. Heart goes out to family, friends, band mates and the gazillions of fans around the world who get so much from their music. Quote
Maude Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 I first thought (and hoped) it must be a hoax but sadly not. A fabulous drummer who could easily play what the drummer in Dave Grohl wanted and had the personality to match the frontman in DG, the perfect counterpart. Such a large part of the infectious energy of Foo Fighters. Terribly sad 😔. Quote
ern500evo Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 I’ve seen FF live about 10 times, some of my greatest memories are from FF gigs. I’m genuinely gutted. RIP Taylor Quote
ubit Posted March 26, 2022 Author Posted March 26, 2022 Every now and then a celebrity dies that actually affects you. I love the Foo's and Taylor is a really big part of their sound and image. I am genuinely sad about this. 1 Quote
mep Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Shocked to hear about Taylor. Such a great drummer and person. Quote
WAYNESWORLD Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Very sad. Always seemed to give his all to entertain. RIP Quote
sykilz Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Unbelievable. The man was a force of nature. Rarely am I shocked by a 'celebrity' leaving us, but this time I am shaken. Damn. Quote
krispn Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Loved this guys drumming ever since I saw him drum for Alanis way back in the 90’s and was stoked that he got the Foo’s gig. Big loss! Quote
T-Bay Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Utterly gutted by this. Same age as me, what a loss. Quote
Barking Spiders Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 A big inspiration to me as a drummer and what a drummer he was. Few deaths of famous people impact on me but his has genuinely left me feeling saddened. Not just a drummer in the Foos but as much a frontman as Dave Grohl. Quote
peteb Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 I believe that I saw him on his first ever tour, the Sass Jordan Rats club tour in the early 90s, just before he joined up with Alanis Morissette. A great drummer and a big personality. RIP Quote
paul_5 Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Such a shock, so young too; thought are with his wife and 3 kids. Quote
Cato Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 I've see Foo Fighters live twice, once supporting the Chilis and once headlining. They're an odd band for me in that as much as I've tried I've never really been able to get into their albums, but live I thought they were absolutely outstanding, up there with the best I've seen. Taylor was a vital part of that huge live energy and he will be sorely missed. Quote
alant Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Shocked and saddened when I heard the news earlier. RIP Taylor. Quote
vincbt Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Really terrible loss. I’ve seen them live several times and, like them or not, they were always a very tight band and up there with the best in terms of live performances. His energy and his relationship with Dave were undoubtedly a big part of it all and you have to wonder if this could spell the end of FF as we know them.. Quote
Jason Karloff Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 For me the best singer in that band 5 Quote
12stringbassist Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 (edited) Very very sad news indeed. Apparently he had been complaining of chest pains in the dressing room. Although any such reports may not be accurate. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/foo-fighters-taylor-hawkins-r-i-p.1140215/page-3#post-29211337 Edited March 26, 2022 by 12stringbassist Quote
