buying from abroad duty vat etc

So there's an item in Thomann £339 including vat, free delivery.

 

Am I being niaive in thinking this will be the price I pay or will I get stung with import duty or any other charges?

Nope, that is correct.

That is the price you pay. Thomann collect the UK VAT for the HMRC, so there are no charges upon delivery.

Yeah pretty good; I've never had a problem.

 

For further reassurance I recently bought a bass from a different European retailer with the same deal and the bass arrived here with no further charges.

All reassuring but I'm afraid finances have put a stop on this purchase for the time being.  

 

The boss seems to think gas and leccy are more important than music gear.

If you're buying from a European retailer (that isn't Thomann) email them and tell them you're in the UK. They *should* sell to you without their countries local VAT, as we pay UK VAT when it arrives.
