oz of the bass
Ever since I started playing bass after hearing a bassist of the name Juan Nelson (Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals) and seeing his Tobias bass I've been semi-obsessive about owning one. Does anyone know if they really are everything I've made them cracked up to be in my head?

6stringbassist
There's absolutely nothing wrong with trading your wife for a Tobias, I traded my brother for an Alembic once while we were in the US. He still writes occassionally, and sends Christmas cards etc.
oz of the bass
I think he plays a fender jazz or both... not sure
Golchen
I found from personal experience that my 'Holy grail' bass from pre-bass playing days wasn't actually 'the one'. I've enjoyed having one, but I prefer my new squeeze. You may find that the bass is not all that you hope it is.
RhysP
I used to lust after Tobias basses until I played one. The necks are unbelievably skinny & I just couldn't get on with it at all. (That was a pretty old one mind, don't know what they're like since Gibson got their mitts on 'em) No matter how gorgeous you think a bass is make sure you try before you buy, as there's always a chance you won't get on with it. I wasted a lot of time & money on Rickenbacker 4001's before I realised they're just not for me, even though I love 'em. Same with Wals - beautiful basses but I didn't get on with that V neck profile they used. Edited April 11, 2009 by RhysP
molan
If you can find someone to take the missus off you in exchange for an early pre-Gibson Tobias then I'd go for it
leschirons
I think I'd need a pic of your Mrs before making a judgement.

oz of the bass
What do you mean by THAT!? roland jupiter out of the question, she doesn't like wine and you wouldn't hear the last of it and as for the attractive part... I'm sure you are very attractive, after all, I'm sure there were thousands of others jumping at the oppurtunity to tell me you were.
