Hi guys my preamp has an effects loop in it and I'm wondering what pedals to put into the preamp effect loop I'm using the pedals connected normally and the moment I have tuner-compressor-2 fuzz pedals-preamp then a noise gate and finally a chorus pedal going into my ashdown heads effect loop

Usually you put the modulation pedals in the FX Loop so chorus, reverb, delay etc.

This is so the pedal is untouched by your preamp and sounds cleaner and more precise in what’s it meant to do to you sound(as it was designed.)
The fx loop is after the preamp but before the power amp so putting boosts in there can overdrive the amp

Also a lot of loops run at line level not instrument level so if the pedal sounds like crap it’s not designed to run at line level.

Confused...

The fx loop is set between the preamp and the power amp so anything you plug into it won’t be coloured by the preamp settings

That’s correct but they will probably alter the volume (boost pedal) when you activate them unless you have a volume out on them because you won’t have the benefit of the preamp volume and gain controlling the sound.
you may also find that they sound different due to the line level on most fx loops as opposed to instrument level

Most effects are much happier with guitar level signal. The amp fx loop is meant for line level units running off mains power.

I have never had a problem running a pedal board right into the front of the amp where the bass would normally go straight in. The input gain usually winds up a bit lower.
