All the bits fitted now.  Sounds great and LS is a genius for coming up with the idea.  Need to do a bit more tweakery and we're good to go.

You are of course correct my friend.  Weirdly my boss doesn't see it that way.  However I have loaded a couple of 'pre-EMGs' pics for your delectation.  When finished it will be a Limelight Lee Sklar bass although as I don't know any famous recording artistes gathering sigs may take some time :(

Here you go with a couple of pics of the original first:

My L/L version awaiting some ink...

NOW that's what I call a SIGNATURE Bass.

Congratulations on such an innovative idea for a fantastic bass.

What's the bit between the pups? I though it might be a ramp but it seems to be sitting flush?

It's where the batteries live/where the original P rout would have been on the original. @6:35

I have a pretty tame moustache, but not a chance in the beard dept.  Same hair colour though :D

Started to accumulate some sigs and comments etc.  A couple of BC members already captured.

Do you tend to run it both pickups on full?

Not always @LukeFRC, I'd say my favorite setting is neck pickup on full throttle and the other backed off about 10%, plus the tone backed off by about 25%.  It also works nicely the other way around.

Have you brought it to his attention?

I think he might be quite tickled to hear about it.

I'm not sure that I would know how to do that :(

Would be great if you could get him to sign it too. Better leave a space for him.

That would be awesome if that could happen.

Lovely project - I've looked at doing something similar but not in such detail. I'm sure Leland would love to know about it. I wonder how hard it is to get those old EMG's?!

If I could find some I'd definitely swap them out, assuming of course I could afford them!

I think it’s interesting that despite the world and it’s sound engineer going on about the P having the pickup in the perfect sweet spot, the world’s most recorded bass has the pickup moved forward closer to the neck.
