I got her from fellow BCer Alex about a week ago. I'd never played a five before and I've now realised I'm definitely a four stringer.

She's a beautiful instrument with barely a mark on her. Plays like butter, and has a warm, rich piano-like tone. The active electronics are amazingly versatile as you would expect - she can purr like a cat, growl like a tiger, and hit 10 on the Richter scale if that's what you need. The output level is about the same as my Corvette $$, and the tone is more complex, warmer and richer. I've A/B-ed them through my desk.

Alex told me he had the 'board defretted at Mansons in Exeter. They have done a superb job, not like that butchered Corvette Jazzman that WarwickHunt showed us on ebay. It's lined-in a few shades lighter than the 'board so it's not obtrusive. The whole 'board is smooth as silk. Other than the defret, this is 100% original.

SPECs
- Flame maple two-piece body, center joined. Satin finish. Comfort contoured. Chrome hardware.
- Recessed straplocks, original strap attachments included.
- Wenge four-piece neck. Four-screw bolt on. Long scale 86.4 cm.
- Wenge fingerboard, original adjustable brass nut. Pearl side dots. Chrome Warwick enclosed tuners.
- 2 x MEC Dynamic Correction J-type pickups, active circuitry. Four pots - Volume (Pull for Passive) / Bass / Treble / Balance
- New set of DR Black Beauties 45 - 125.

I will consider a P/X with a four string Warwick (or similar) fretless, preferably with an unlined ebony 'board.

The Gallery said this should currently be worth about £500. So that's what I'm after.

Anything else you need to know, or if you need close detail pics, please ask.

Cheers,
Nigel
Definately like this.....................unfortuanately the only trade fodder I have is a MIA P bass.

C'est la vie
'fraid I swapped a Jazz for it, as much as I liked it I need an active. Sorry Mart.

No problem Nige.

Got a feeling that a 5 string fretless might be the answer to my continual bass switching (the 3rd bass that is) from a 5 string to a 4 string fretless and back again etc.

Don't suppose you fancy a trade for my Fretless Warmoth Custom?

I was originally offered this Fortress as a trade for my Warmoth but declined at the time, changed my mind just after you had got it!

Sorry fella, thanks for the offer but I just swapped a Jazz Special for the Fortress. I really am after a Warwick (or similar) fretless, preferably with an unlined ebony 'board and active circuitry.

Good luck, it looks like a really nice bass.

Cheers,
Nigel
