CHRISDABASS Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Hey Just been checking out some of the links from the Alleva Copplolo website! There's some great factory tour style sections with step by step pics etc i found it really interesting to see just how much detail they go into! here's a refret http://allevacoppolo.com/services/refret and a fingerboard replacement http://allevacoppolo.com/services/fingerboard-replacement i also found this video of Paul Turner and his lovely bass! Platypus Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I've been keeping a keen eye on this site - just waiting for them to finish the site and list the full specs options etc..... Quote
NJE Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 thanks for those links especially the concert, that was amazing, watched the whole thing! I have been lusting over Alleva for a long time now and desperately want one even if its the no frills model. I suppose there is probably not a lot o difference between one of these and any other boutique jazz but I just think they are by far the prettiest and I love the headstock. I would love to get down to the bass merchant and try one. Quote

Bass Guitar Magazine have had the LG5 for review and that should be in the the next edition. Quote

BigBeefChief Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Hopefully they'll be "dialling-in" a "passable Nate Watts impersonation". Quote

Marcus Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I believe Jimmy spends more time than most getting the right "grade" of woods for his instruments, I guess design wise they're not breaking new ground but i'm sure in terms of his craft he's up there with the best. I quite fancy a closer look at one of these instruments soon. Quote
Musicman20 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I want one of these. I have decided that I have 1 and 3/4 years left until I am 30, so I am saving as of now for either a Coppolo or a Sadowsky. Quote
caruso Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 As we are talking about Jazzbass clones I feel the need to mention Xotic. Superbly built and the Trilogic pre onboard. Quote
StevieC Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Just watched a few songs from the Jamiroquai video and that is the best live bass sound I've ever heard. Needless to say, I want to join the list of droolers for an Alleva Coppolo. Presumably the amplification is also high end - a combination of gear us mere mortals can only dream about... Steve Quote
Musicman20 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Paul Turner uses Aguilar amps/cabs apparently. Ive heard he has a fairly small rig, as Jamiroquai doesnt like too much stage volume. Quite a good idea really. I wish I could tell my guitarists that. Quote

Wonder if it's been 'optimised' for bass? The bass is really loud in the mix & the drums sounds pretty way back to me. . . EDIT - there's some fabulous playing from PT here & his tone really is to die for Edited July 7, 2009 by molan Quote

I think it looks half finished. And the headstock is awful. Quote
