SteveXFR
I've been asked to audition for a band playing originals. They've not got anything recorded yet other than a couple YouTube videos. Is there anyway I can get an mp3 from YouTube to drop in my DAW?
SpondonBassed
VLC media player. It has the facility to Convert and Save to most formats as separate audio and video files.
Nail Soup
There are a few online sites which do Youtube to MP3 if you google. I've done it a few times, but can't remember which one(s) I used. They did give me the MP3 file, but sure how dodgy they are in terms of any other crap which may have come with it.
ambient
Connect your phone to your interface, then play the YouTube video and record it into your DAW.
Bassfinger
I use this one to pull songs into my Tascam GB-10. https://getx.topsandtees.space/bEnVYr10Xw
musicbassman
If you're using a PC to watch/listen to Youtube videos, then Audacity is free and reliable for creating MP3's. You may need to fiddle around a bit to get the right routing - I think WASAPI is the usual for Windows. There's plenty of advice online about this.

It's a simple copy and paste, click a couple of buttons then download it to your PC in jig time
Steve Browning
Another vote for VLC. Dead easy to use and does exactly what you want, for zero cost.
Nail Soup
Just a thought..... probably better to grab the audio as .WAV rather than MP3 . MP3 is 'lossy' and the DAW will convert it back to .WAV anyway.

I haven’t used it for quite a while but do you know if that would work with GarageBand and the focusrite interface

Enter the link for your song, select the file format, click go, within 2 or 3 seconds you have a fine with your song on it. Ive done it through Audacity in the past, but this is soooo much simpler and a helluva lot quicker.
Reggaebass
I’ve tried quite a few YT converter’s (on iPad) and I got lots of pop ups saying not safe and don’t use , so I came off them

Just treat it as a guitar or bass.
MrSpace
This is what I use: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp It's a command-line app so not the simplest to use, but has been really reliable.

Bilbo
I record from the earphone socket of my phone into Cubase. I then transfer it into Transcribe so I can write it down. Job done.
