BassOrWhat Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Hi Any thoughts on a practice combo amp with a decent headphone output? Looking at spend up to £500. It's for home practice only. Not concerned for recording at the moment. Ideally something with small dimensions. I've just seen a fella playing a Markbass CMD 121P that sounded fab. Any other recommendations? Kind regards None of us wanted to be the bass player. In our minds he was the fat guy who always played at the back. Paul McCartney Quote
chris_b Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 If this is for silent practice, why have speakers at all? Checkout a Palmer Pocket Amp Bass. Quote
BassOrWhat Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Thanks chris_b and PaulThePlug Good point about why have speakers. I do occasionally get the chance to play at volume but the majority of my practice will be with headphones plugged in. None of us wanted to be the bass player. BassOrWhat Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Boss GT-1B seems to be a good bet as well for silent practice. None of us wanted to be the bass player. In our minds he was the fat guy who always played at the back. Paul McCartney Quote
stewblack Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I've used a ton of options but the Joyo Badass Bantam head is really good. Why any better than the rest? Bluetooth. Connect your phone to it wirelessly, wherever you are in the room you can play along or use metronome app or whatever other rehearsal tool apps you like. Headphone 🎧 friendly too. Quote
fretmeister Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Cheap interface and use plugins with your PC? Amplitube free with a smart phone and interface? Loads of options really. When I play on headphones I use an Audient iD4 interface and my ipad. Amplitube can import all the songs from iTunes so I can play along easily. Quote
Buddster Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Ones I've used.... -Fender rumble, headphone o/p, aux i/p -Zoom b1 four, headphones, aux i/p, drum tracks -NUX mighty plug 2. Headphones, Bluetooth, its own app for different modeling, no leads. All are under £500 so there are probably better if you are spending that much, but these have been very good to practice with. 1 Quote

evan47 Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 The new BOSS Katana 1 x 10 should be ideal for home practice. It has a 1 watt mode, headphone socket and more than enough effects to keep you entertained. Seems to be reasonably priced too. Quote
pete.young Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Pretty hard to beat a Phil Jones Bass Double Four. 2 Quote

BassOrWhat Posted July 14, 2022 Author Posted July 14, 2022 Thank you to all the Basschatters who've replied. I decided to go for the Micromark 801 Marcus Miller. Very happy. Quote
