Does this one do metal?

It must be good for metal, it looks heavy enough. I certainly wouldn't want to play it for an hour.

Setting this up must take some time just to adjust the four truss rods.

I can’t imagine even trying to play it.

 

I would expect that the design came into fruition after Al shared a joint or two with a few folk from Rickenbacker.

PS. Yes, I kmow, one neck was a shadow 8 string, but visually it was so funny.

As if the original model wasn't hideous enough... the ultimate parts bin special.

 

In it's defence though, RIC did go back to single truss rods with this one so Al might only have 2 to worry about.

The 4 string neck is probably tuned to his usual drop C. He uses lots of open string drones so a 5 string would mean fretting all those drone notes which would be tricky.
