I'm guessing (and glad) Mr. Gilmour gave them his blessing to do Echoes, 'cos I know he decided to retire it after Rick's passing out of respect. I didn't think I'd hear any of the band do it ever again.

 

So tempted to get tickets for Newcastle...

He retired it from him doing it with pink floyd. What Manson decides to do in another group is none of his business really.

Of course, but I suspect Mr. Mason isn't a man who likes to create choppy waters (sic).

Choppy Waters?  Wasn't he that guitarist who insisted on at least three solos in every song?  Last I heard he was doing a five stretch for being in possession of an offensive instrument in a public place.
