lemmywinks
The neck is a "7 fly sandwich" apparently. Doesn't sound very appetising. Edited April 25, 2022 by lemmywinks 1
lemmywinks
Another one here, claiming it's a MIJ prototype: https://reverb.com/ca/item/47785065-through-neck-bass-natural-original-mij-japan
NikNik
These must have been domestic market only; I've never seen them, ever, until now. Big questions: are those humbuckers really humbuckers? 😉

That bridge is certainly a design I have seen on Chinese sites.
Maude
AliExpress judging by the poor translations/mistakes on that specs list. A 'sandwitch'? Occultist at the beach?
Max Normal
7 fly sandwitch? Sounds crunchy if a bit stingy on the flies. I saw High Fernly-Whittingstall make a woodlouse omlette on TV once, so I guess he'd go for it.
prowla
Sort of Warwick-ish...
BigRedX
For anyone who hasn't seen one before, this is what a real Tokai Talbo Bass looks like: Nothing like the one on eBay... (Looks like a Warwick knock-off) However there was a wooden bodied version of the Talbo Guitar called the Talbo Woody.
ezbass
Those headstock ‘inlays’ are all sorts of dodgy.
Bassassin
Here's my real Talbo for good measure! Very shiny, very whiney - as in highly prone to microphonic feedback. 30 minutes ago, ezbass said: Those headstock ‘inlays’ are all sorts of dodgy. I thought so - and some very odd-looking marking to the wood/finish under the decal on both of them.

Mine was completely stuffed full of cushion foam, and I never had any feedback problems with it, although I never used it at anything other than home practice volume. Same with mine - stuffed with foam & fine at low volume. At gig levels it really didn't like my standard aggressive/toppy mildly overdriven sound. Was tameable, but hard to get the grit & growl I was after.
