Do they exist?

Does anything, really? Time? Thought?  Is it real or just a fictitious construct we use for our inability to describe it in any other way?

Now I'm worried. I've just bought one, fretless black 59 with extra large pick gaurd.

Hasn't arrived from Bass Direct yet....................

More to come, thanks for your response.

Steve.

Sounds interesting, but I also don’t think they did fretless at any point, though I’m by no means an authority. Suppose it could have been a custom order though? Really rather curious to see a pic!

Re: Gary Tallent of the ESB, he’s had and played a bunch of Longhorn-style basses over the years, from Danos through Jerry Jones to custom jobs I think so likewise, if he has used a fretless one it was likely bespoke.

The didn’t do them factory…

The bass player for Emma Bunton (spice girl) played a sparkly 59dc in the video for her cover of “what I am”.

He played it in a bath tub…(think they were fairly inexpensive and readily available at the time)

When the video was done, he had it defretted and toured it…

What a random recollection 😂

That's definitely an aftermarket defret. I wonder whether the weirdly large pickguard it is hiding any additional routing? It looks like it has a couple of extra strap buttons on the back of the body also.

Yeah - it is a modded pickguard. Very well done though.
