I miss Bass Gear :(

Just thinking about old times as I do some days and it struck me just how much I miss Bass Gear and my frequent jaunts across to see Barrie @molan Phil and the dearly departed Vic. It was always a special place to; my own Tiffany's as it were and I was always made to feel very welcome.

I went there only once and met them all. Spent hours trialling the TKS range with JT. He ordered a pair of 1x12 cabs that sound awesome.

I will also always remember Bass Gear. It's where I bought my first Spector (Legend NT) back in 16. I felt really welcomed and not pressured to buy anything. Great place 👍

Yes was great to have had a top Bass shop easy to get to, I bought quite a bit from them as well as supporting them by selling a couple of my basses through the shop, even with the mark up etc I felt it was the right thing to do.

I bought my first ever proper bass cab from Bass Gear! They were so helpful, friendly and patient. Such a great shop.

The loss of our Vic knocked the heart out of us really. 
 

Although we’d already decided to close the main shop, Vic & I had put a plan together to keep a smaller version of the business running on an ‘appointment only’ basis. 
 

Without him I lost the motivation to do anything. 
 

Might have something interesting on the horizon later this year though 😉

Was quite handy having a "Bass Specific" shop not too far away from where I lived at the time - only visited a few times, but bought my TH500 and my Mono gig bag from there (both still in use).

 

Vic was a really nice guy, passed way too early ☹️

I only went once. It was a nice place and Vic let me try just about everything I wanted.

He was a knowledgeable host and made a decent cuppa!
