PaulThePlug
The nut slots on my J Bitsa neck were a bit low, particularly the A and D... giving a buzz when played open... So finaly got around to doing something about it. Seen the 'ol Super Glue and Bi Carb mentioned and vids on Youtube, so gave it a go. Masked it up... Mixed it up... Built it up... Sanded Flat... Slotted with Needle Files Sanded the slots smooth and pencil lead to lube... Sorted! You can make out the 'Clearer Build Up'... If in doubt give it a go! Velarian
That’s a much neater job than my previous ham-fisted attempt. 😂 Actually, you’ve just reminded me that my bodge was supposed to be temporary until I fitted a new nut. I have the nut but never got around to fitting it. I must make the effort.
PaulThePlug
Thanks - happy with the outcome with general tools... no fret files. Learned a bit from 'Nutting' the acoustic i got. Was looking at getting a brass nut, but thought i'd give a 'build up' a go... Still got to strip the J Bitsa down and have a go at the Neon Hydro-Dip paint job when the weather warms up... And my Rick-o-like has just been shipped, so waiting on that, which i expect will need a little fettle... Jean-Luc Pickguard
good job! I have also had success using white milliput to build up the nut slots on a guitar and then file down after leaving it to set overnight.

Maude
Nice neat job. Is that T. E. Stockwell's tone baking powder? It makes my muffins sound great. 😉👍

Buddster
Nice neat job. Got to ask though, what is the chrome device you're using to hold the strings back with? I've not seen that before and looks very handy to have. Or is it part of the neck brace?

PaulThePlug
Yep them things... couple of quid on ali express, got em with a pair of fret guards / shields... handy for 0000 Wire wool n Polishing the frets and (whisper...) lemon oil on a rosewood board. bend a thin bit of metal and wrap in electrical tape... nowt special. and for a fret guard, cut an old store card or credit card in half and then tape leaving a fret gap...
