Nice simple solo from Sean Hurley playing with vertical horizon

Nothing too fancy, just the right notes, a lovely tone, a little bit of octave at one point and nod towards whitesnake  at the end.

John Entwistle on The Who's "My Generation"

Mic drop.

That was going to be my second suggestion. Bass solos just about the right length, don't want to over-egg the pudding after all.

I suppose I should have but I’ve never heard anything by him before, that’s mighty impressive

Each to their own and all that, but if I could unlisten to that I would.

John Entwistle again. Let's just say the whole of 'The Real Me' is a bass solo. 😉

I know, I know!

Muzz Skillings rarely gets the props he deserves for his playing on the first two Living Colour albums. Nice little bass solo on this one off Vivid. Solo around 2:20.

In similar way, like the Gary Willis track you posted, these players of a high standard are lyrical and melodic when soloing around the changes or, performing solo pieces.

They know in their head, exactly what the next note (or phrase) will be, rather than letting the fingers aimlessly lead the way searching for notes.
