Doctor J Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 The first semi-final is on at the moment and has been pleasantly light on Europop so far. My money would be on Moldova if the situation in Ukraine wasn't what it is. Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 (edited) I really hope that this year I can watch it all the way through. I try every year but just get disheartened by the Europop so given your thoughts @Doctor J maybe this will be the year for me. Edit - I’ve just seen Anna’s for the final and it didn’t look half bad. zbd1960 Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Oh dear.... I'll be honest, I'm not a Eurovision fan - it's not recent, goes back to the 1970s... Some people I know are quite obsessed with it and will be having a 'watch party' for it... I didn't make myself popular when I said I didn't like it... We're all different, so I'm fine if it floats your boat. 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Last time I watched it Bucks Fizz were Making your mind up 😁 Quote

Newfoundfreedom Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I'm not sure why the UK even bother to enter any more, considering the voting seems to be tactical and they're pretty much universally loathed by the rest of Europe. (Can't think why). Quote
Grahambythesea Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I thought we’d left Europe! What else was Brexit for? 2 Quote
Barking Spiders Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Well, I think it's a shoo-in Ukraine will win and the UK will continue to prop up the final table. I assume Russia's been banned as they have from all sporting competitions. Quote

Rich Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 My son knows someone whose sole (and entirely serious) reason for voting leave was "because they all keep ganging up on us in the Eurovision Song Contest". 2 Quote

Skybone Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 My daughter loves Eurovision, and really looking forward to it. Usually quite an entertaining spectacle until the voting. Quote
Guest Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Just a thought. Perhaps Laurence Fox could enter Eurovision? A songster in the David Icke mould for a new light entertainment generation. Quote
Chaosanator Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Actually this year the UK is one of the top runners. 2 Quote

Reasonably safe bet I would imagine, given how political the voting has always been. The reason the Eurovision is such a joke is because it has absolutely nothing to do with talent. Kind of like a continent wide X Factor. Quote

Ironically enough, that has turned out to be as substantive a reason to vote for Brexit as any of the supposedly more serious reasons put forward. 3 Quote

It stopped being even remotely about the song years ago. Wiggy was right when he pulled the plug. 1 Quote

It was 2006 and I loved it when the Finnish goth-monster-rock band won with Hard Rock Hallelujah, so much so I was dying with laughter... Needless to say, his GF was not so happy... 1 1 Quote

Israel and Australia are eligible. Presumably Europe is a state of mind rather than a geographical location or political affiliation. Quote
