lownote
Running a P bass clone with ToneRider pups on a KiOgon loom through a LM3 into a BF 210. Started getting bad hum and bad crackle but only when the tone knob is turned up. Turn it down (off) no issue. No obvious earthing issues. Tech couldn't find anything. Eventually replaced everything, including kettle lead which turned out to be problem. Can anyone explain why that might be? Stub Mandrel
Was the kettle lead earthed. May have been an earth loop broken by using a kettle lead with no earth, or vice versa providing a missing earth.

Somehwere betweenthe otherwise new Amazon kettle lead failed, I guess
Random Guitarist
One thing to watch out for is Chinese origin mains leads that have a partially insulated earth pin. They look legit but the earth doesn't connect in the socket.
