visog
Big brand buys niche loved specialist. Eurgh! Does this ever work? Darkglass guy will make a lot of money then go and do something interesting after his clause expires... Oh no... It's SWR, Trace and Tobias all over again....? https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdlvr.it%2FSQhY5k%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR1Gr9WXkuWrl9HNWJUFL2QVphyTV1AjUlf1ht_SmlJ3mmQ3HRvxbqpZWUo&h=AT1W-CQlbkJU5uAX-Sqg-K7-1pNQT4E1a1FMw4Z5nUy7Kj13YDmUe-Jlwd5TP19Dx28qyBv4_Pwi5Qhc_XuGO_HZFlfUyZoWWPpIM6H4s6Gpf9cVv3AbFLIJXie9p_LP4g&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0wyhTEZylq31r4fU1RMTxg3AalkGXmTc_YPb4s3KV0CzSctES1OGgLIdG5mgkkJGXvMABY4-OSqSaNhdpYq5DJGBhEkSwwNLfIDaH5XljEf9Pcl8SLZSWMhGUpIRmNLoCacH8lOqaFOHYo5lmNexLei4MuwaKM87aYD8K2XEF4spKiMzLYHWWaQ7KtZiQHFsDDT4Ipu7NJQnSd5vWLQIn4FZ_Q0clF7Jc
Doctor J
Not all takeovers are Gibson/Fender seek and destroy missions. Korg resurrected Vox. It's not necessarily a death sentence here.
RussFM
They've owned Spector for a couple of years now too and they've been doing pretty well under them.
thodrik
Yepp, I consider this good news. Spector and Vox have done well under Korg. Korg also acquired Aguilar which isn’t struggling. Yamaha bought Ampeg as well and this is generally thought of as a positive development. If nothing else, I would actually enjoy it if Korg dialled back on the patented Darkglass marketing strategy of releasing a pedal, waiting 6 months, and then releasing a slightly different version of the same pedal in the Ultra or V2 format.
Kev
Interesting move, may well be beneficial. Since Doug Castro left and turned his attention to Neural, they seem to have struggled a little to keep innovating the way that they once did. The ADAM and Photon are cool but feel half baked. Same with that new amp. And if you believe the FB groups, their customer services has somewhat nosedived in recent times. Perhaps Korg will help with this? Interesting OP though. Has any brand been ruined by Korg?? Edited May 20, 2022 by Kev
ordep
My initial thought when I saw this was “cool, incoming Darkglass pitchblack Ultra tuner. 😃”

Vin Venal
Oh cool, now my amp and cab are "pre-korg" and therefore clearly more valuable. 😅
Woodinblack
Yep, was going to say, now every darkglass advert will say 'genuine pre-korg sought after model'
