tauzero Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Focus have already been mentioned - Hocus Pocus hasn't but Sylvia has. Great bit of 80s: And back to glam rock: Finally, just a small sample of Mike Oldfield's output: 1 Quote
ezbass Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I doubt that it ever charted but it won a Grammy. 1 Quote
Barking Spiders Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 here's quite an obvious one everyone of a certain age seems to've missed😉 I was about seven when it came out and I think it may be the very first tune I ever liked, 3 Quote

SteveXFR Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Cult Of Luna have a lot of instrumental tracks and a lot of their music with vocals don't have much. Quote
upside downer Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 These chaps have done some damn fine instrumentals. Quote
super al Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Zappa's Peaches is one of my favourite instrumentals... I've posted the Nite People's version cos I used to work with the bassist (Scott, 2nd in line) plus they're from Bournemouth and the poor buggers lost 9-0 today! Quote

Mickyk Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 One of the best instrumentals ever made ,from 1970. 1 Quote

Yes, a good instrumental with the unmistakable style and sound of Russ Stableford on Bass Guitar. (Je t'aime and Everlasting Love are other Bass credits of his as well). A bit of trivia...Zack Laurence arranged the track and played Piano on it...replacing Elton John's Piano. 1 Quote

Yes, sorry maybe on Je t'aime. And now you mention it, I think he popped up on TalkBass two or three years ago and said it was him. It's defiantly Russ on the other two. EDIT: Mind you, I seem to remember getting the info from you about Je t'aime. I think we are all getting too old for this stat stuff. Edited August 29, 2022 by lowdown 1 1 Quote

At the mo' on Planet Rock they're doing 100 greatest guitar solos. Seems to me voters can't distinguish between a guitar solo and and solo guitar instrumental, what with a fair few instrumentals being played e.g. SRV's Little Wing, Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson. No doubt there'll be some Joe Satriani higher up the chart. Quote
BassTractor Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 The Dixie Dregs (later Dregs) aren't mentioned that often. Here's their "Cruise Control" - originally on "Free Fall" but here in its shorter version on "Unsung Heroes". Listen to Andy West kicking some behind on that bass! 1 Quote

What a guitar player Steve Morse is. So sad that he’s had to call it a day. 1 Quote
