Dad3353
Not fussed. It makes no difference to me (I have fretted and fretless, but couldn't say what woods they are...). I just play 'em.
Sibob
Rosewood or Ebony for fretted. Ebony for fretless. Si
BigRedX
Whatever looks good and goes well with the look of the rest of the bass. Probably something very dark (or painted black).
BlueMoon
My personal preference in all cases is ebony.
Random Guitarist
Ebony is a favorite for me, but I am finishing up a fretless kit with Rosewood which may change that. While I've been setting up and playing acoustically the rosewood board has felt very good. Once the lacquer cures and I get to final assembly I will know for sure. Reggaebass
My Sandberg had a lovely ebony board, that’s probably a favourite but I also like the dark rosewood, really don’t like the light wood ones

Crucial small word got missed in the explaining - "as". When a noun is described as adjective AF, AF = "as f**k" which indeed means "very much so, in the strongest terms"

Ebonol also feels and looks like ebony. Gary Willis in some instagram chat said that he prefers to play gwb1005 with ebonol fingerboard.
