Hey folks,

I had a bass built a few years back. Whilst it was in getting a setup, I asked the shop to change the batteries on the LEDs (so I wouldn’t need to worry for several years again!)

however, when it came back it seems that every other LED is not working, or cutting out and flickering.

I’m imagining a cable has shorted somewhere.

Does anyone have a rough idea on how much it may cost to remove the fingerboard and sort this out?

There may be no need for a fretboard removal, though, of course, it depends on how the LEDs were fitted in the first place. The Gallery were able to repair a couple of failed side LEDs for me at a very reasonable price a few years ago.  If you’re anywhere near London, I’d have a word with Martin or Jon.

Casually going to look into this again.

Does anyone have any recommendations on people to approach to get it quoted and fixed? I’m in Aberdeen, so ideally Scotland but could probs find a case.

Are you sure the batteries were changed? If only few act weirdly, the very first checkpoint is batteries. The next would be the cables around the same batteries.

Yeah sadly. I changed them myself afterwards to sanity check.
