I've played one. Probably the heaviest bass I've ever played.  Looks really cool though.

I think one of those was the first or second fretless bass I ever played, ca. 1972. And yeah, heavy would be an understatement, and I owned a Travis Bean for 40 years.

I know Charlie Jones used to play a plexi one, dont look like a DA

 

Jones is amongst others, Goldfrapp's bassist, is married to Robert Plant's daughter and was bassist on some of Planty's solo albums

I owned one once, even with an additional extra slide in pickup.

 

However I didn't like neither how it felt in my hands or sounded (neither of the 2 pickups).

 

Should have kept it though, kind of regret selling it.

Could be anything. Maybe even a laminate of plastic on a sheet of plastic. Who can tell?

Always fancied one of these after seeing Rick Price playing one with the good ol' Georgia Satellites back in the day. Rick Richards occasionally played a DA plexi guitar too, both on view here...  😎
