Rustyscoot
Hi people, I blew the speaker on my Evo III 500 Ashdown Bass combo last night, it was a rocking gig TBF, God bless the PA man for acting in a shot and routing me through the PA, so I'm thinking of swapping it out for a Celestion, the speaker is a Blueline 500w 15" 8ohm. Would anyone know a suitable Celestion ? Thanks :)
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Call ashdown on 01621 857853 - they sorted me out several years ago when I blew a tweeter in a MAG cabinet.

It's a crapshoot changing a speaker without modelling. Ashdown will suggest a suitable replacement.

Skinny
If you look on the Celestion site it says the basic 15 driver they make is suitable for a large difference of sizes of cabs. You might need to play with the port size but I doubt it unless you are aiming for technical theory perfection. I have a old JBL cab that has had 3 different speakers in. All sounded different but all sounded good.
MattW
Another vote for contacting Ashdown! Also consider that you don't actually need a 500w speaker if it's 8ohm, it'll only draw about half the power of the amp so 300w 8 ohm should be more than sufficient. Phil Starr
As a practical solution go to Ashdown. Any other speaker is going to change your sound and devalue your amp should you ever want to sell. Ashdown bless them have the best after sales you might’ve ever get. The only reason to go different is that there is something you want to change about your amp or if after sales is not available.
