Is this genuine Rickenbacker TRC genuine?

Hi, folks - I could use some help with this item I bought on ebay - is it a genuine Ric TRC?

I've received it and I'm not sure; it's slightly thinner than on my Ric basses and it hasn't got the moulding dimples in the "n" and the "r" when compared to a 4003 & 4004's.

 

 

 

It's not one of the Chinese ones with raised letters for the "Made in USA", though.

Likely it is not the real deal. 

 

I was of the understanding that Rickenbacker will only provide you a new replacement TRS cover if you supply them with your damaged/broken one first.

The EBay ones invariably are fakes. I have a black TRC on my 4003s and I like it - it doesn't bother me in the slightest that it might be a fake. The bass is real and that's what matters. I have the originals stored away but I can't see me selling the bass.

The font used for the "Made in U.S.A." looks off to me.

It was sold as "Genuine Rickenbacker" - that's the issue.

I can get fake ones for under a fiver.

Ah, I see! I just clicked the original EBay. I'd just assumed it was one of the cheaper ones. I guess you can get people guessing here or the other two options are 1) ask the seller to provide evidence that it is original or 2) ask Rickenbacker. At that price (or best offer) I would want the real deal too!

FYI, I got a refund from the seller.

And he's getting a refund off his seller.
