spongebob
Just grabbed a gorgeous '06 Stingray, blaack/maple. Fretboard front is fine, but the back is quite grimy, and discoloured with the dirt. Anything I can use to bring back a bit of cleanliness? Did a search, but got a bit lost....!

spongebob
Looking at the complicated (to me) video, I may just live with the grime! 🤢

PaulThePlug
0000 wire wool... dipped in isoprop or lighter fuel... going lightly with the grain... I'd stick the body in a carrier bag, or tape over pickups... and sandwich bag over the headstock... taped closed, to stop the wire wool dust. pineweasel
I’ve done the procedure in that video. It’s a little concerning the first time you sand the neck but it does work well, and once you’ve reapplied the oil and wax you’re rewarded with a great feeling neck that also looks fantastic.
mcnach
If, like me, you prefer lacquered necks... I had my Stingray neck cleaned and lacquered by David Wilson in Hexham... it didn't cost that much and it's much easier to keep clean now. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002025970885
Muppet
I’ve done mine just like this, with oil soap, wet and dry and then tru oil. Gives a super clean and smooth finish.

Pearl Blue with a neck that looks like a weathered fence just wouldn't do! Edit* it's much less susceptible to movement now too, Edited July 13, 2022 by Horizontalste Added info

Or lose the wire wool and go with the lightest duty Scotchbrite ? https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/v000056473/
