ern500evo Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Keep seeing ads for this gadget coming up on various FB musicians groups/pages. Basically a gadget for instantly adjusting the length of your guitar strap. Who knew such a thing existed! https://dropstrap.com/collections/artists 1 Quote
musicbassman Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Well, the name they've chosen maybe isn't the best 😳 2 Quote

Guest Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Yes, I often gain 18 inches in height during a gig and need to extend my strap. Quote
uk_lefty Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 My guitarist could do with something that does that.... It that looks a bit flimsy tbh. Quote

I never even knew such a thing existed, or that there was even a market for it. The video clip I saw of it earlier, there’s a guy using two of them to make a swing, so it must be fairly sturdy. It does seem to be aimed more at guitarists Edited June 27, 2022 by ern500evo 1 Quote
Nail Soup Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Just trying to think of the applications..... Bands who swap instruments between players maybe? Quote

In the demo clip, I think they’re aiming it at guitarists who want the guitar hanging lower if they’re bashing out chords, but can raise it up for more technical stuff 1 1 Quote

It's only one song that he needs to raise his strap for but it's a pain to do. Quote

pineweasel Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 I've got a leather strap with two holes at one end, so I could quickly change between them if I wanted to. A bit like this: 2 Quote
fretmeister Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 I sometimes change strap length for different types of playing but never mid song, and probably never mid set either. Weird product. Quote

tony_m Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Looks similar to the Levy's "Right Height" and Right On "F.L.A.S.H" systems, must be a call for it I guess! https://www.levysleathers.com/right-height/ https://www.rightonstraps.com/en/STRAP-Fast-Length-Adjustment-System-Harness.html 1 Quote
Bolo Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 50 freedom units for a short bit of mediocre leather isn't great either. I think that's about what my Maruszczyk padded extra wide prime leather straps cost me. Quote
FinnDave Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I have two straps, both of exactly the same length (49") between the button holes (or whatever they're called). All of my basses are either Fender Precision or Jazz basses so they all hang at exactly the same height. I never change the height at which I play my basses, so I fail to understand the need for this product. 1 Quote
ern500evo Posted June 28, 2022 Author Posted June 28, 2022 The explanation of who the product seems to be aimed at, is up there ☝️ 😊 Quote

Can't say I've ever met a guitarist who has felt the need to raise or lower his strap mid-song, or even at all after an initial adjustment. Quote

I’m not pushing the product, I have zero affiliation to the product or it’s makers. It was just a product I saw, that I’d never seen before, something I found to be a bit quirky. So I thought I’d post it here to see if anyone else had ever seen anything of the same ilk. 1 Quote

I failed to notice that you had started the thread, I assumed it was started by by the manufacturer/originator of the product, so please accept my apologies for inadvertently accusing you of pushing the product. Definitely something I haven't seen or heard of (or even imagined) before, but good luck to them if they can create a need for them. 1 Quote

No apology necessary, and same as yourself, not something I’d ever really thought I’d see. 1 Quote
Velarian Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Looks like this thread was started by originator: - A bit spammy I think. Nothing like engaging with the forum beforehand eh? Quote
Mottlefeeder Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I've been using my own version of this for many years - a rucksac strap adjustment buckle at the end of my bass strap. Its a lot cheaper. I put it on so I could shorten the strap when sitting down. David 1 Quote
Grassie Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I would use this if I needed to play slap. I can’t slap with my bass at “standard” height (ie waist height) but can do it when it’s strapped higher (a lá Mark King). Not that I’m much of a slapper to be fair… 😊 Quote
