So my ebay search for "Fender Katana Bass" normally sits there idle year after year. Then today I get a notification email. Like a twitch on a moribund fisherman's line, I click the link and dive in.

Then I realise a) that it's the Squier version and :) it's that mad German bloke!

Oh well, maybe next year...

What about that one?

Other than the paint job of course...

Even with that paint job, that's a very good price for a rare Squier. I'm looking for the Fender version though but thanks for flagging this. Wonder why I didn't get an ebay email about it?

and 18 months later and still not even a sniff of a Fender Katana - I'm beginning to think that they never existed!

Yup!

I had an old squier Katana guitar a long time ago, Japanese squier and only cost £100! Had all the playability of an early Jap squier, just in a pointy shape!

At present there are four listings for Squier Katana basses up on ebay. But, if you look at the photos, there are only two distinct photos between those four listings. Dunno what that is about. The starting prices are not cheap, but not outrageously expensive compared to other Japanese Squiers, so I presume it's not the German "Bloke" (*)

(*) I typically use a much stronger word in my private thoughts, but that might be inappropriate in the forum.

He sells sh*te at vastly inflated prices but we reckon its a ruse so that people will check out his parts (ooer missus) and buy them instead :)

He also sells very nice things at vastly inflated prices. I don't know how it works out, as surely he must pay a few pounds (or euros) for each listing, and if you look through his history, he has listed hundreds of instruments which received no bids. Perhaps the one instrument he sells per year or so garners him enough profit to make up for all the others.
hi, don't be put off - ebay were doing a free listing day and so I have listed my guitars twice to maximise there exposure - should the guitar sell in the first sale then the second will be canceled. Cheers,
It's irrelevant as my purchasing budget is zeroed. But, to be honest, I would still be put off. Not exactly fair for those bidding in the second auction.

back from the dead....

I searched katana and this came up. Rather than make a new thread, I thought I'd add it here, just because they don't come up very often.

The guy selling this is our old mate shippers the "Swansea sander" he has relaunched his career under an assumed identity. Nice guitar though it was probably nicer before he had a bash.
