shoulderpet
Have recently switched my Duncan SPB-2 to parallel wiring and having a Kiogon harness put together with a series/parallel switch so that I can still use series if needed and a passive bass cut. Am actually liking the SPB-2 in parallel so much that I prefer it to series, it is wound super hot so it still sounds beefy enough in parallel and is nice and bright in parallel. That being said I am wondering if switching to another P pickup would give me a touch more brightness. I know the model p is said to sound good in parallel but other reports I have read have said the difference is very subtle, also wondering about the DC resistance,I think it is wound to about 11k which in parallel would only mean between 2.5 to 3k DC resistance, can anyone comment on this pickup in parallel? The other one that could work well is the Entwistle pbxn but there doesn't seem to be info on this in parallel Any other p pickups that work well in parallel or is it just the SPB-2 and the model p? miles'tone
The Dimarzio Split P sounds like what you're after...I remember it being KiOgan's favourite P pickup too. He knows things...
bloke_zero
I've got a split p running in parallel and it's just the right about of grunt vs clarity for me.
