Thunderpaws Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Hiya. I’m thinking about buying an early 2000s version of this. Don’t have much info other than I like the colour and it seems in good condition by the pictures. Is there anything in particular to note on these and to look out for. Anyone here have one and can share their experience? thanks all Quote
bassbiscuits Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Hard to say without any info - is it made in USA, Japan, Mexico? In general, I’d expect an accurate 1962 reissue P to have smaller vintage frets (not the modern medium jumbos), the wider nut width (1.75”) and probably a 7.25” inch radius fingerboard, which is more curved than the flatter modern 9.5” radius. None of which would be a problem at all - they just feel different if you’re used to a more modern bass. Beyond that it’s impossible to say without more info really. Quote
Velarian Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 One thing to be aware of, if it’s authentic to the original, it will probably have reverse wind tuners. When I first came across these they threw me a bit but you soon get used to them. However, some modern interpretations have regular tuners. 1 Quote
Thunderpaws Posted July 14, 2022 Author Posted July 14, 2022 It is a CIJ R-Serial from 2004-2005. It has an Ash body, maple neck and medium/dark rosewood fingerboard. Quote

SuperSeagull Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 I have a 62 reissue made between 1999 and 2002, a P serial number. Chunky neck, classic P bass sound, reverse tuners. Enjoy yours. Quote
