MacDaddy Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Although this is a guitar, I'm think of the possibilities for bass. Probably a through neck, so the base bass is a fully playable 'cricket bat' type bass, then interchangeable flying V, and Rickenbacker type bodies. 4 Quote
Russ Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Interesting idea. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to point out the flaws though. Personally I'm waiting for someone to revive the Novatone swappable fingerboard idea so I don't need to buy separate fretted and fretless basses! Quote

From a practical PoV, I've tried that, but I keep coming to the conclusion that I have a favourite bass to play and nothing else comes close for the playability. As a result I've sold all my 4 and 5 string basses except for my 2 Gus G3s and I'm in the process of getting rid of the unplayed Bass VIs and replacing them with a second Eastwood Hooky. If I could afford two bass VIs from Gus I'd have them instead. I'm aware that the Gus doesn't visually suit every band, but these days I'm unlikely to want to join any band where I didn't think that look would be appropriate. 1 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 Daft idea, but its just a bit of fun. If I had one I'd want a swappable headstock though as the standard one looks a bit pedestrian with the flying vee body. But I'd still play my thunderbirds in any gig situation I find myself in. Quote
