The M76 is the same compressor as the famed M87, just in a black box, all the same controls etc. 

 

Great reviews on ovnilab, where the above is confirmed - MXR bringing out the 76 as although guitarists loved the 87 apparently the word Bass was putting them off. Understandable, not always the sharpest tools in the box are they?
