obbm
Before I lash out on new strings has anyone tried flats or nylon coated strings on an MM Sterling or SB14?
TheRev
I have D'Addario chromes on my EBMM Sterling. Tames some of the top end and has a smooth, tight bottom, which surely everyone wants?
MrDaveTheBass
I have two EBMM Sterlings; one fretted, one fretless. Both are sporting EB Cobalt Flatwounds, which feel lovely to play and sound tremendous. I haven't used any other strings for years.
Martin E
Yes, I used an SB14 as my main gigging bass for years in a function band doing all the usual stuff. I tried TI Jazz flats on it ,my first dip into flatwounds. I thought they were fantastic, I liked the soft feel and low tension. We used to play long sets and my finger tips used to suffer with rounds. I've subsequently put them on all my basses and now use nothing else. All very subjective of course but for me thay worked well on the SB14.
