You have to wonder at what point the 'builder' realised he was hopelessly out of his depth.

Fwiw looks like those tuners could be dismantled and reassembled as L/H.

I've just looked up "shou sugi ban" and it seems to be a fancy way of saying that the surface has been charred with a blowtorch. You wouldn't want to be wearing a white shirt when playing it.

Larry Hartke went through a stage of randomly sticking basses on his BBQ and posting the photos on Facebook. Tbh most of them looked better than this one.

It's no longer for sale "because there was a mistake in the listing". Shame. It was just down the road from me. I'll keep searching for my dream custom bass.

The reason Fender do not make the top horn shorter is so the Bass balances better, so why make it shorter and then have to have that horrible extension thing sticking out...? Custom Smuchtom...

While that's obviously a cheap Jazz copy that someone's hacked around and slapped some Dulux on, the rest of this guy's listings (and there are a few!) appear to be ambitious-but-rubbish bitsas with home-made bodies, probably Chinese necks & random, sometimes quite decent quality components. A lot of looks-OK-from-a-distance finishes that make your skin crawl at close quarters, and it looks like he's been doing this a lot, and for a while. This is maybe what MDP aspires to.

His sold items consist of a pickup.

Some of those look ok until you get to the headstocks and the price tags.
