anti-barbie
I use a qwiktune tuner cos quite frankly i'm lazy. However it's gone haywire - it's telling me all my strings are G and even when i'm hot hitting a string, the damn thing is telling me thati've just played a G note. The Funk
I don't see how we can help other than to say your tuner is buggered and it's time to get a new one.
anti-barbie
Thank god you didn't say it was my bass - i can be so thick at times but was panicing for a minute. Annoying as it is only a few months old, may have to change brands in that case Edited August 22, 2007 by anti-barbie
The Funk
It might be worth upgrading to a better one. It's annoying that they suddenly jump from around a tenner to around £65.
skywalker
Try a new battery first - that's cheaper
Dood
Also, try a different lead. I once had a similar problem with a little electronic tuner. The 'sleave' side of the cable had come away from the attached plug, leaving the 'tip' (signal) cable connected. The tuner picked up lots of main hum because of this (as the cable could no longer 'screen' the signal). Now, UK mains in 50Hz which does read fairly close to a low G ,give or take a bit. A possible cause! Try changing the battery on your bass too, if it's an active one.
ZPQ
I agree with Dood and Skywalker - it's almost certainly the battery or cable. Try swapping these (one at a time) and see how you get on - good luck! (good point about the battery in the bass - I've had that before and wasted ages checking cables before I realised)
paul, the
I had a modern Seiko (around £30) that went buggered. Shan't be getting another.
Musky
If your tuner does turn out to be knackered, try your luck with getting a replacement from where you bought it. All electrical equipment is covered by a statutory one year guarantee.

cheddatom
Like some-one said above, if your tuner is just receiving hum, it'll display G or G# ish. There must be a problem with the input. Open it and check for a bad joint on the input socket.
charic
If you do get a new one and decide to spend instead of buying more " cheapy" ones. I HIGHLY reccomend the Korg DT-10. It actually responds as soon as you hit the strings. Unlike my old "qwik-tune"
NJW
yup, if its reading between G and G# then there is most likely a loose connection somewhere causing hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Its probably fixable, but just buy a better tuner

The sooner i get paid and get a new one the better - at the moment i have to get dad to tune it as his ear is far better than mine and it means he hogs it for a couple of hours
anti-barbie
I'm confoosed now - the thing is working again. Tried new lead, thought brilliant, it works! But put the old lead back on just to check it truly was "dead" and it's fine - like nothing ever happened. This has been happening to me a lot - things pretending to be broken - my car indicators were the last victims Edited August 25, 2007 by anti-barbie
charic
Perhaps it has a loose/dodgy input. You knocked it back in place is a poss?
