LITTLEWING
Just bought a Mex Player P bass. Incredible flawless neck worthy of double the money but it came with the pups so steeply angled from E to G (which we know Fender says to do so that the volume on each string is equal) that they seemed to be too punchy to my ears, so I’ve backed the E down to nearly 3.5mm and flattened that sharp apex a load to bring that sweet P sound into play. I know we’re all different but holy moley, that nasally honk was way too much for me. Anyone else find that out of the box or did a certain music shop it apparently went to first set it up to his taste?
EJWW
I've been tempted by these player Ps for a while now every since I handled one and was struck by how beautiful the neck felt.
Gareth Hughes
Hmmm, I bought mine as b-stock from Thomann, so maybe the first buyer changed the angle themselves - I don’t remember having to alter anything out of the norm. Absolutely quality instruments.

I have a Mex player with the maple neck which i love, however the stock pick ups didn't do it for me so i changed them out for a set of Fender Vintage 63s now the tone im getting is sublime if you're into the Vintage sound.
BassAdder60
The stock PU in my player are very nice and does the job well I’ve put Dimarzio D122 in my Squier CV 70’s and they are very nice too, highly recommend them especially for rock Edited August 10, 2022 by BassAdder27
