For Sale is a Peavey T40 in black finish from 1981.

I bought this almost exactly a year ago from The Bass Gallery - it has served me well in that time, having seen it's fair share of live outings and studio sessions.
The tone is absolutely beastly and the bass plays great.

I have included their original photos, as they capture the bass well. I will endeavour to sort updated pictures, as I have cleaned the bass up a little in it's time with me.

Frets and truss rod all in good health.

The bass has a decent amount of wear, which the original pictures from The Gallery capture well - some paint/varnish on the headstock/tuner heads as well a fair few chips/marks/dents in the finish. I have cleaned some of this up, in particular the pickguard and back of the bass (I will try and arrange some decent pictures to better capture it's current state).

There is also a replacement knob for the bridge tone control.

It also comes with the original "chainsaw" case, though like many others it has parted ways with it's original plush lining, and so is just bare plastic.
A previous owner seemed to have glued kitchen roll or similar inside for some padding, which seems to be what had contributed to the "gunk" on the back of the basses body, which is as it came to me from The Gallery.

As with other T40s it is heavy, but nothing a wide and cushioned strap can't overcome (I have one I will include) - weighs in at 10lbs on luggage scales.

I am happy to ship anywhere within the UK or Ireland for an additional £50, and can look at quotes for further flung places.

If you are in or near Belfast you are welcome to come and try it out for yourself.

Get in touch if you have any questions.

Loved my T40 and regret letting it go when i was skint. Sadly I think it'll be divorce for me if this showed up just as we're moving house and there's a baby on the way!

Good luck with the sale.

Looks very 'Burns' to me... if it had a 2 piece guard

Bridge 'Tray' and those pickups give it a look of intent, and a step away from niceties... defo looks like it means it!

Pin striping and the tri-tree... nice touch.

Great basses, the T-40s...

Particularly favoured by bass players in Nashville apparently.

I've had a couple over the years and they're brilliant to use, really clever electronics and very versatile.

GLWTS 👍

I got a '79 natural ash body/maple neck T40 a month ago. It is THE BEST FOUR STRING I've ever had. Ever! My go to four string from now on. Also, mine isn't that heavy. It has a ton of TONE, TONE, TONE, with the smartest passive electronics ever built in a passive bass. Tone pots full up: single coil! Back down tone to seven: humbucker!

Grab this bass and never look back! :)

Cheers for the tag, I somehow missed this?! It’s a beast for sure but I already have this finish, so I should probably be sensible!

if anyone has a fretless or a rosewood fretboard variation though, that’ll be a different story!

I'm not totally sure to be honest - just discolouration really.

No impact on the playability of the instrument at all.

Could be from the original lining of the case; it was apparently quite common for the case to react with the finish on the bass/guitar, and would also explain why the original lining was ripped out.
