Did you notice much top end loss? Seems to be the fallout from a blend on a passive bass due to loading  (same issue with actives but you can boost highs to correct obviously).

Can you elaborate? I have two Status S2 Classics, and one of them with an older (late 1990s) preamp board suffers from this a LOT (i.e. with the pan pot centered, the tone is dark and muffled and with either of the pickups soloed it's ear-piercingly bright) while the other, from 2012, is perfectly usable all across the spectrum. I've been in touch with Rob about this, and he was baffled and says both circuits are essentially the same save for a preamp gain trim pot on the newer one and some updated components - with similar values.

Sorry for the hijack, @Niiranen :$

That sounds more like an actual problem rather than the inherent ‘issue’ of blend pots. As far as I understand it, the blend pot is essentially adding in 2 extra volumes pots, as such, more resistance, therefore mildly reduced top end.

I have not had the feeling about loosing topend ... But I have played on diff borrowed amps/speaker until I now have my own ... So maybe better hear when the amps the same before and after .... And also I don't want to much diskant/top in my sound - I play mostly music from 60/70

My new amp/speaker I now have to control 😁07D294B6-D984-4E89-8445-D368E0131E44.thumb.jpeg.86aaa355f3f6e330393aa97d47c760f1.jpeg

I’m thinking about changing the vol/vol on my PJ mustang for blend/tone (don’t need a vol). Local tech said it would be fine but I could use a no load tone pot so when it’s on 10 it’s removed from the circuit. Might do it at some point.
