Niiranen Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 ' tells more than 1000 word , but I made that I blend the PU instead of choose 5 1 Quote

PaulThePlug Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Modded both my Ibby GSR200 to MN ungrounded blend... SR600 is blend as standard but AC so changed to MN... my 2 x Jazz are PJ's and are blend... and my Rick-o-like has 2 toaster-buckers and blend. Blend Makes Sense. Quote
Sibob Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Did you notice much top end loss? Seems to be the fallout from a blend on a passive bass due to loading (same issue with actives but you can boost highs to correct obviously). Si Quote

I have two Status S2 Classics, and one of them with an older (late 1990s) preamp board suffers from this a LOT (i.e. with the pan pot centered, the tone is dark and muffled and with either of the pickups soloed it's ear-piercingly bright) while the other, from 2012, is perfectly usable all across the spectrum. I've been in touch with Rob about this, and he was baffled and says both circuits are essentially the same save for a preamp gain trim pot on the newer one and some updated components - with similar values. Sorry for the hijack, @Niiranen Quote

Sorry for the hijack, @Niiranen That sounds more like an actual problem rather than the inherent ‘issue’ of blend pots. As far as I understand it, the blend pot is essentially adding in 2 extra volumes pots, as such, more resistance, therefore mildly reduced top end. Si Edited August 19, 2022 by Sibob Quote
Niiranen Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 I have not had the feeling about loosing topend ... But I have played on diff borrowed amps/speaker until I now have my own ... So maybe better hear when the amps the same before and after .... And also I don't want to much diskant/top in my sound - I play mostly music from 60/70 My new amp/speaker I now have to control 😁 2 Quote
itu Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 The new setup looks good, @Niiranen @Sibob : If you want to change the passive blend, consider Noll Mixpot. You can tweak the performance with its trimmers. It does not load the pickups. 1 Quote
ped Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 I’m thinking about changing the vol/vol on my PJ mustang for blend/tone (don’t need a vol). Local tech said it would be fine but I could use a no load tone pot so when it’s on 10 it’s removed from the circuit. Might do it at some point. Quote
