I've only played a gsr once briefly but own a sr300.  I believe the neck on the sr is slimmer in profile but may be wrong.  The body of the sr is like a sucked sweet, no edges and very comfy.  Not sure about pick ups and pre amp.  Is the gsr passive or active.

I have bought and sold a more expensive sr600 as I was so impressed with my cheaper 300.

If a bass is better or not is so subjective. see if you can try one.

Hi,

I have an Ibanez GSR 180 bass, I wonder if the SR300 would be much better?

Definitely an upgrade but you would really need to try a 300 to see if you think it`s better. I have owned a couple of 300`s over the years and they are a good budget bass with a good tonal palate due to the pickup options.

Doesn't the SR300E have the powerspan pickups which are a bit different to the Bart styles found in the majority of the SR range?

I tried an SR305E in a shop and very much liked the powerspan pickups, but haven't owned one long term.

A guy on You Tube seems not like all the features of this bass, he says he would like less  features but better ones.

It`s not the guy on You Tube that`s gonna be playing it, you need to get your hands on it to find out if it`s for you.
