ambient Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 This is impressive. Maybe not something to try at your local pub gig though. 1 Quote
Dad3353 Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Yeah, I do that trick of tossing my gear around my head. Goes down a treat, along with the head-banging. I'm weak on pirouettes, though, so I'll practise them more. Disclaimer : I'm a drummer. 4 Quote
Lozz196 Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 It’s only playing small venues that stops me doing exactly the same……. 3 Quote

I didn’t fall over but it was nevertheless a very embarrassing moment. Edited August 26, 2022 by ambient 2 Quote

I think this is the crucial learning point from this instructional video - you must perfect that look of incredulity that it hasn't worked quite like you thought it would. 🤣 Edited August 26, 2022 by Franticsmurf 1 Quote
Marky L Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 That spin malarkey comes a very very close second to bass solos in my book (well, more like a pamphlet really). 1 Quote

I’m presuming you mean second in a list of No-No’s rather than great things! What be the remainder of the top 5 (or 10) then? 1 Quote

On bass, for me, other than the 'slinging one's 'ook' as in the video, and bass solos, I'd add... Pedal boards (or pedals at all, really...). Use of a pick. Round-wound strings. 'Softly, softly' is more my style (it might get loud, but softly...). Edited August 27, 2022 by Dad3353 1 1 Quote
Owen Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 I would do it all the time if I had the coordination. 6 Quote

steantval Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 (edited) Hopefully his bass playing is as good as his tricks. Edited August 27, 2022 by steantval Quote

I am quite surprised that so many haven't discovered the wonder of straplocks. 1 Quote
