Raymondo Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I have train tickets and hotel paid for tonight in Leeds, as I was going to The Acheivers gig...Unfortunately it has been cancelled. Any of you lovey lot playing tonight? ..I might come along and heckle say hi! Quote
Raymondo Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 Clearly Leeds will be bereft of BCers this evening.....except me....who'll be wandering around the city trying to find an ordinary Pub....jeez they like a bar and food combo here don't they! Quote
Velarian Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) I was in Leeds last night. Started off in Whitelocks, The oldest pub in Leeds, est. 1715. Worth a visit, but it’s too small to host bands. I Drank far more than was sensible though and spent today regretting it. Edited September 1, 2022 by Velarian 1 Quote
Kirky Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) No there tonight, but there's a gig on at Wharf Chambers https://www.wharfchambers.org/event/volk-soup-gladboy-sigmund-void-wharf-chambers/ And another at the BRudenell http://www.brudenellsocialclub.co.uk/whats-on/cola/ Both great venues. The Grove as well http://thegroveinnleeds.co.uk/event/deep-blue-3-2/ Very small, old pub. No idea what the band is. And some jazz at the Domino club https://www.thedomino.co.uk/event-details/another-workout-12 Edited September 1, 2022 by Kirky 1 Quote
Raymondo Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 Thanks for the info... I'll investigate Whitelocks and then the Duke and Drake( where The Achievers were going to play) and if it's not my thing I'll try your suggestions kirky..cheers. Quote
Velarian Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 The Duck and Drake is a real old spit and sawdust type pub. Well it used to be when I lived in Leeds around thirty years ago. We spent every Sunday evening there watching a band that had a residency. It was a fantastic atmosphere. 1 Quote

I'm here now...the whitelocks and all the other small pubs were fabulous but nearly all of them only had pale ales ...I like good old fashioned "amber" bitter and my go to reserve of Cider was also not to my taste in aany of them, hence I didn't stay long in any of them. The Duck and Drake is still a spit and sawdust pub .. suits me ... and the band are apparently Americana, which I don't mind ... looks like I'll be here all night( they have two Amber bitters) ! 👍👍 4 1 Quote
