Si Well that sucks, a custom US is a bit out of reach for me at the minute with the current economic climate that we all face. Second hand market it is! Naigewron
Well well, look what the cat dragged in. Very much still in the honeymoon phase, but this thing is absolutely immense! It replaced my Lakland 55-60 Vintage J, which played great but I didn't get on with the Jazz bass thing. I just need to accept that bridge humbuckers and active electronics is where I live.

I really really want another 44-64, but not enamoured with a lot of the Skyline specs/colours/weights that (rarely) come up for sale. So will likely be a custom US order at some point when times are a bit easier. Si Edited August 3, 2022 by Sibob
Sibob
Small update, but added the nicer plastic knobs from the xx-02/xx-94 models to my 55-01 a while ago. A bit lighter compared to the metal barrel knobs, and makes the bass look a 'little more Lakland' in my opinion haha. Flanked by my custom US 44-PJ (as I'm now calling it). I'm still super happy with the spec. Think I pretty much nailed it, and Lakland built the hell out of it Si
BassAgent
So here's a nice announcement: shortly after New Year's (hurray for mail not working after Christmas) this gorgeous machine is going to come my way:

Soooo nice! Si
BassAgent
It is! Andy suggested not to ship it before New Year's because the payment probably won't arrive before Tuesday, which would make it difficult to have the bass arrive before Christmas. So to avoid the risk of having the bass sit in a cold shipping facility somewhere we've agreed to postpone shipping until January.
lawriemacmillan
Lakland 55-94 ('98) fretless. On request, Lakland sent me a pickguard without screw holes which is a perfect fit, and gives an appearance akin to my fretless '79 Musicman Stingray

It's an incredibly stable bass....keeps its tuning. Quite lively pickups...much more what I imagine a 70's Jazz to sound like, despite all the early Jazz references. Great all rounder bass.

johnDeereJack
I'll play... Here are my two Lakland Skyline 55-02's. I've had them for a while now, and they're absolutely fantastic instruments. Bought the purple one first, then added the black sparkle one as a back-up, cos they're that good! The black sparkle one is just shy of 9.5 lbs and the purple one is a shade over 10lbs.

I also use kinda wide-ish/grippy Levy's straps, so that helps too! 🙂
BassAgent
How has it been over a year someone has posted here? Since I bought the JO4, I've added a JO5 and a Skyline 55-02. Absolutely amazed by the quality of these basses. Edited October 6 by Sibob
