Here's a recent acquisition, a very rare USA Lakland 55-76... possibly the Holy Grail for a Stingray 5 fan who wants 19mm string spacing... that'll be me then! Custom scratch plate added by Martin at The Gallery. Plays like a dream, sounds phenomenal, light as a feather, but still balances beautifully.

Was there ever a 4 string version?

The top one, the fretted 55-02 "Sir Flatwound" is sold, the other two are in my possession. "Sir Fretless" is a beautiful 55-02 and "Sir Roundwound" is my gorgeous 55-94 Deluxe...[/quote]

Nice fretless :) First dibs on that if you ever decide to sell it :)

There was, the 44-76, but they are equally rare. Worth looking around for, though!

Funnily enough, a 4-76 has just been listed on talkbass.

Nice and blue. Only 3,2 kg/7,05 lbs - light as a feather...

Well spotted... and the correct model number seems to be 4-76 as you say, not 44-76 as I suggested. A bit pricey once you factor in shipping and import duties, but very nice!

Wow that is nice (didn't check the pic before) ... almost nice enough to pull me back from the dark side to 4-strings again :)

Ok, so it's about time I shared my collection as it stands at the end of 2014. A few have come in & a few have gone this year but this is what I have right now (Six I think) !!! and still looking for a 44-51 Precision/ Tele bass 😍
As the Black BG went out, the DJ came in!!

New Lakland day!

Excuse my Atelier Z, but there she is next to it, teal burst 55-94 and the next one is Lakland Tetsuya which I had since last year.

Ran my J5 passive last night...and that made me think of Lakland DJ5's again..
Think I'd like a Blue one with RW..??

Why not both?

Two new 44-51's to add to my arsenal!!
The one with the Black Plate is a Skyline with a standard neck which was bought whilst I was waiting for my own spec' done to be built.
So the the one with the Tort plate was discussed with Lakland and ordered through The Bass Gallery (Martin & Charlie are great guys) in January this year. It's a 44-51M which has the contoured body. The Butterscotch colour is not standard on the US basses so they did this for me and I also requested a Jazz profile neck. They also supplied a Black plate for me as I could not decide what to have.
Anyway after 10 months of worry, e-mails and anticipation, my baby arrived on November 20th.
So here they both are, gig ready the next day.
The USA one is also featured on Laklands Facebook page just before being shipped.
