Can the East J-Retro Deluxe be used with EMG pickups?

I recently bought a bass that already had the East J-Retro Deluxe installed and I love it. As it happens I love it much more than the EMG BQC I have in a different bass that also has EMG J pickups.

 

Can I install an East preamp into that bass with the EMG J pickups? Or would the pot values need changing making the whole thing a massive faff?

I did it long ago with no issues. They shared a battery.

You didn't change the pots or anything? Just as it comes?

I asked John the exact same question. No need to change pots. He said it’ll be fine. Just no passive mode

Yes, I had a Spector CR5FM years ago which had EMG DC and the East U retro deluxe, but the passive tone didn't work.
