Extra pick guard screw?

Has anyone ever seen an ‘extra’ screw in the pick guard on a ‘60’s P Bass - in line with the tug bar screws?

 

Seller claims he has had the Bass from new.

 

The only thing I can think of is that it was added to correct warping maybe?

That’s definitely an addition and possibly as a result of warping. I’ve looked at this listing a few times, it was listed twice at one point.

I noticed that too, it’s been relisted quite a few times, was first up for 7k i think

I doubt it would have been added to correct warping as it is so close to existing screws.

The seller had two listings running at the same time - one at £5,700 & one at £7,000?
 

I asked a few questions and he was very unfriendly, actually saying that he thought I was a ‘scammer’!!

 

When I asked the history of the P he said he had used it with Count Basie, Dionne Warwick, 10cc and AC/DC😂😂!!

The pickguard looks amazing. The wallpaper and duvet cover not so much.

My vote  is extra screw,if he had it from new he has probably forgotten he did it😀

I see, was looking in the wrong area. It's definitely got the two screws for the  tug bar in the right place but as others have said, the one slightly off middle looks newer too. 1960 onward P's all had two screw tugbars, it was the older style P that had the one screw up to 1956ish.
