Remember also that he's playing a Rickenbacker in the Planet Earth video... Quote
matbard Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 From minute 1:04:25 they discuss the JT "Rio Dream Bass" with preview of the model! 1 Quote
Eldon Tyrell Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Thanks. Interesting video. However, Sheldon got some details wrong. Rio was Duran Duran’s second album, not their first (that was “Duran Duran”, released a year earlier in 1981). Second, John Taylor was not 17 when he recorded his basslines for Rio but 21 ½. Third, Queen Elizabeth II did not “have a Neve PA system” but Rupert Neve “provided public address for Princess (later Queen) Elizabeth II at the reopening of St Andrews church” (see Rupert Neve Designs website). 2 Quote
matbard Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 It's sufficient that Sheldon put that bass into production! 😝 1 Quote
hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Dang I want another Dingwall after watching that video 😎 It does annoy me slightly that most of the playing content was distorted within an inch of its life. The exception being the amazing Lee Sklar which wasn’t exactly a hi-fi recording and was also cut short 🤷♂️ 1 Quote

Intriguing. Indeed! And seems that the production bass has an ebony (or phenolic) fretboard Quote
hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 I was interested in the JT Sig, but even more so now having listened to Sheldon speak about the pre-amp. 2 Quote
matbard Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 The Neve preamp would be the real killer! I bet which "guitar company" is the one mentioned by Sheldon... Quote

Intriguing. There has been talk of this bridge becoming the new standard and it being available for retrofit to existing Combustion/NG/D-Rocs. I emailed Bass Direct a while ago to see if I could get on a waiting list. They're saying they've heard nothing from Dingwall so far, or are keeping shtum. I'm hoping for a NAMM release 🤞🤞🤞 Quote

Eldon Tyrell Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Also note that it says April 13 in the ad, which happens to be the first day of NAMM. So, we could be in for some more announcements in a week's time. Quote
MichaelDean Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) Oooooh, the single bridge looks great! Edited April 12, 2023 by MichaelDean 3 Quote
markbunney Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Looking forward to seeing more detail about this Quote
AndyTravis Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Says on Instagram that it’ll be limited to 82 pieces… Get yer deposits down if you want one. Quote
Kev Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Shame about the stripes, that would have been realllly tasty without those, which are a little distracting. Still, cool bass to own, chinese Dingwalls have gone a bit bonkers price wise, but then again what hasn't... Quote
iconic Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 So is JT no longer endorsed by Peavey? He has had a decades long relationship with them......although many still think of him as an Aria man. Quote
krispn Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Looking forward to hearing how the preamp sounds. Demos hopefully forthcoming with namm kicking off. Quote
40hz Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) Having looked at the sales/launch bumf, it seems only the Rio colourway is limited to 82 pieces? And that the seafoam, white and black ones will be general production? (Unless I'm mistaken). Edited April 13, 2023 by 40hz Quote

There is no 82 connection to the other finishes. Quote
matbard Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 The bass will came in 82 pieces Limited Edition with Rio graphics, fancy inlay at 12th fret, custom wall hanger, Hipshot Xtender, custom case and string package. The standard unlimited production is black, vintage white and seafoam green, without all the cool stuff, and will be put in production later. Quote
