Midlands Bass Bash: Nottingham, 22 April 2023 👍

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd be otherwise engaged this weekend, but I find I can make it.

I'm mainly a busker, so I'll be bringing:

A modular 1x10 battery / mains combo + extension speaker.

A couple of battery powered amps.

An 'even-briefer-case' 2x5 battery powered combo.

An Ibanez EWB205 -

5-string ABG.

An Ibanez EHB1265 -

5-string, headless, fanned fret bass.

If anyone wants the 10" speaker, tweeter and crossover circuit from a Soundcraft PA speaker then they are free to a good home and I can bring them up. All working.

I was given them by @Mottlefeeder at the last SW bass bash to possibly repair another monitor with, but we didn't use them so just sitting in my garage.  Seeing him post reminded me 🙂

And those battery powered amps of his are brilliant.

I've had a separate question about lunch arrangements.

Just to be clear, we can't provide lunch at this bash. Maybe in future we can arrange something, but on this occasion it's bring your own, or nip out and buy something I'm afraid.

(I did briefly consider asking @scrumpymike if he would lend us his family to drive up from Taunton-way to cook a sit-down meal, as they do at the SWBB, but I had visions of him armed with a frying pan and thought better of it...)

Just checking if anyone specifically wants to see/hear the QSC or Grace Design Alix? Only because the Boss Waza-Air Bass is so good I'm seriously considering just bring that with the basses.

Actually, what was I thinking? This is a Bash and, of course, one needs to bring everything, and by that I mean...

...alright that's everyone but you get my gist. Today I'm going to set up the entire rig and then pack everything as I break it down so I don't forget anything!

I have a Peterson clip-on strobe tuner, a music stand and possibly a few other odds and sods for the raffle.

I will bring my GR AT 210, my Markbass EVO 1, and an unlined NT fretless 35” Scale custom build. This bass is for sale: The 12th ‘fret marker’ is a Scorpio sign.

It is a sublime bass to play, passive, I changed out the Piezo for a Delano, a Delano Pre would be ideal should you wish? The neck is modelled on a Warwick Thumb I had at the time. It’s fitted with flats. I hope I’m not overstepping the mark here, if you’re in the market for a Fretless this could be it. Part chops and cash good.
